How do you get through your days?

Life after baby loss, miscarriage, infertility loss and child loss can be so, so hard.

Whether your loss happened recently or years ago, you may be shocked at how confusing grief can be.

Overwhelm, exhaustion, anxiety, deep sadness, devastation, distraction, even hopefulness or joy - some days you might feel everything, some days not so much.

You may have noticed that it easier to access support in your 'life before loss'.

Feeling forgotten, misunderstood or that people keep expecting you to "move on" can seem to be a constant thing.

You know that other people are dealing with a lot in their own lives, but knowing this doesn't make it hurt any less, or help you to feel less lonely in your grief.

This site has been created to offer a layer of gentle support, in the midst of everything you're going through.

You're invited to pause here, to take a few moments for yourself, as you figure out your next steps, with all that you're holding in your heart.

So here we are...

Though I wish we were meeting under different circumstances, I'm glad you've found your way here.

The world is so complicated right now. Having to cope with everything that's happening when your heart is already hurting can be just too much.

This space was created as a place to find some calm in your life after loss, to focus on your basic self care, and to access the wisdom inside you that can help you through.

As isolating as these losses can feel, I hope you can sense that you are part of a community of millions, all taking our next steps together.

Though your grief and your love are your very own, there are others who can relate, who can hold a shared space, to help you to know you are not alone.

Private Support Program

Welcome and Hello

If we haven't yet met, my name is Shannon. I became a midwife back in 2003, and for years worked with all kinds of families on their unique journeys to parenthood.

If you've found your way here, you unfortunately probably know too well that these journeys do not always turn out the way they should.

If this was your experience, you may have noticed that before your loss there was an abundance of resources around you, offering to help with all kinds of conception, pregnancy or parenting issues.

You may have also noticed that after everything fell apart, many of these resources seemed to disappear.

People often say that they feel like they've woken up on another planet, stunned, with no road map, and no idea where to turn.

I've seen this happen to so many families, and experienced it personally on my own journey through baby loss, infertility and adoption loss.

It can be so hard to find the right kind of support.

___________

I created Mothering Your Heart to help fill some of the gaps in support that you may be experiencing.

It's important to know that you're not alone and there are ways to keep going.

___________

I hope you'll feel supported, heard and understood here as you take your next steps.

If you'd like to learn more about Mothering Your Heart, you're invited to visit the About page, or join a program or workshop.

Most importantly, I hope you come away from here with the feeling that what you are going through matters.

Your losses, your memories, your dreams, your hope, your love and your grief all matter.

You matter, and your heart matters.

Thank you for being here and taking care of yourself in this way.
